Uskomme, että avoin näkemysten vaihto lisää ymmärrystä siitä, miten muut asian näkevät. Rakentava kritiikki ja hyvät argumentit johtavat kaikkien kannalta parempaan lopputulokseen. Keskustelu vie kaupunkiamme eteenpäin.
Keskusteluihin voit osallistua joko omalla nimelläsi tai nimimerkillä. Oman nimen käyttäminen antaa kommenteille usein nimimerkkiä enemmän painoarvoa keskustelussa. Jos et halua käyttää omaa nimeäsi, valitse nimimerkki, joka ei loukkaa muita keskustelijoita ja on helposti tunnistettavissa nimimerkiksi. Eli se ei siis ole tavanomaisen nimen kaltainen.
Kirjoittaja on aina vastuussa tekstistään. Valvomme keskustelua arkisin klo 8-16 välisenä aikana. Poistamme sopimattomat kommentit. Edellytämme, että verkkokeskustelu käydään hyvässä hengessä ja muiden keskustelijoiden näkemyksiä kunnioittaen.
Keskustelupalstoilla noudatamme seuraavaa etikettiä:
- Tutustu aineistoon ja pysy aiheessa. Harkitse mitä kirjoitat.
- Näkemyksesi on meille tärkeä. Kuuntele muita, kysy ja perustele näkemyksesi.
- Varmista, että esittämäsi tiedot pitävät paikkansa. Tiivis ja napakka teksti on pitkää selostusta parempi.
- Ole kohtelias ja rakentava. Älä loukkaa kenenkään kunniaa tai yksityisyyttä.
- Vältä kiroilua ja isoilla kirjaimilla kirjoittamista eli huutamista!
- Julkisen palvelun media on mainoksista vapaa. Ethän mainosta tapahtumia, tuotteita, palveluita tai tee suoraa poliittista tai uskonnollista mainontaa.

I would like to express my concerns about the proposed footpath planned behind our home, through an area of undisturbed forest that currently supports flying squirrels, deer, foxes, rabbits among others.
This forest is one of the last intact habitat pockets in our neighbourhood, and introducing a new path would fragment and degrade it significantly.
This plan appears to conflict with Espoo’s own biodiversity and sustainability commitments. The City has publicly committed to the principle of No Net Loss of biodiversity and to maintaining and improving ecological networks as part of the Nature‑wise Espoo roadmap toward 2035. These commitments include avoiding harm to valuable natural areas and prioritising the preservation of ecosystems whenever possible.
Developing a footpath through this sensitive habitat does not align with these goals.
In addition to the environmental impact, the proposed path raises several practical concerns for nearby residents:
• Light pollution: Lighting along this new path would shine into people’s homes.
• Privacy and wellbeing: The path would run close to our backyard, reducing our privacy and causing stress to our dogs as people pass by.
• Use of public funds: There are already areas of Espoo’s existing sea paths that remain unlit or are poorly maintained during winter. It would be more appropriate to prioritise funding for the upkeep and safety of current infrastructure rather than building an unnecessary new path.
• Community priorities: Many essential services such as schools and libraries face funding pressures. In this context, constructing a new footpath in a pristine and ecologically sensitive area feels like an inefficient use of public resources.
I would ask the City to reconsider this plan and explore alternatives that protect biodiversity, respect residents’ living conditions and direct funding to the areas where it is truly needed.
I hope that Espoo’s stated sustainability principles will guide the final decision.
